Today’s app is Talking Tom.  This is an app that I like to use to get kids talking.  Although it’s not truly a “communication app”, you can work it in to you sessions for a little bit of fun or for a reward at the end.  Like many of the other apps I’ve featured, it’s free!

If you touch the pictures on the screen, silly things happen.  This can be useful for teaching a cause-effect relationship or for getting a conversation started.  When you speak, this funny little cat repeats everything you say back to you in a high pitched voice.  This is a great way to get kids to talk more.  You can have them describe the scene, talk about their day, or ask Talking Tom some questions- the possibilities are endless.  Kids love it and I have to say, it makes me laugh too.  Here is a screen shot:

If you’re interested in this app, you can grab it for free in the iTunes store.
