Love It & List It Linky: Social Skills

If you’re not familiar, each month, Jenna over at Speech Room News sets up a theme for a new linky party. I was so excited to see that the theme for this month’s topic is social skills! Last year, I ran a weekly social skills group for several months and I became really interested in the topic. Here are my favorite things to use:

1) Social Skills Chipper Chat by Super Duper Inc – I love that pictures accompany the stories/scenarios, because I think this helps our visual learners (and many kiddos with social skills issues are visual learners!).

2) Social Stories Creator App – I must admit that I have not paid to download the majority of the social stories that come with the app.  What really got my attention was the fact that you can make your OWN social stories with this app.  How cool!

3) How Would You Feel? on TPT – Sometimes it takes my students a lot of practice to master really grasp a feeling or emotion so that’s why I created an activity called “How Would You Feel?”  Students are asked to talk about how they would feel in a certain situation, to describe a time they felt a certain emotion, and they are also asked to act out a specified emotion.

I’ve also created some other social skills activities (like What Would You Say? and Good Friend vs. Not A Friend Behavior) that I’ve used with my groups.  You can check them out at my TPT store and you can enter my January giveaway to win 3 products of your choice!
