Fun Reinforcers for Speech Therapy – Easter

reinforcer for Easter speech therapy

Hey guys!  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get sick of the same old rewards for speech therapy.  I’m always trying to think outside of the box to keep things engaging for my students.  As a mom, I’ve got to confess that candy is not my favorite item to use as a reward in therapy.  I know, I know- it’s easy, and kids love it, but I’ve got some other great ideas I’d like to share with you too.  In my new series, Fun Reinforcers for Speech Therapy, I’m going to offer ideas for non-food items that can easily be implemented into your speech room.  These tips are sure to add a touch of fun and creativity to your sessions!

I’m here today to share my first idea with you.  It’s perfect reinforcer for Easter speech therapy.  All you need is some contact paper, tissue paper, and a marker.  That’s it!  Easy enough, right?

Materials Needed:
-contact paper
-scissors
-tissue paper (different colors)
-marker

Directions: Cut out several squares of different colors of tissue paper and set aside.  Then, cut out a piece of contact paper- make it about the size of a regular letter-sized piece of paper.  On the clear, but non-sticky part of the paper, draw an egg.  Now, remove the paper to reveal the sticky part so it’s facing toward you.  Now, bend about an inch of the sticky side back on the top and bottom so you can adhere the top and bottom parts to a hard surface.  A window, mirror, or table will work great.  Now, have your student place a colored piece of the tissue paper within the egg each time they complete a target, task, produce a desired response, etc.  At the end of the session, they’ll have a beautifully colored Easter egg. Voila! A perfect reinforcer for Easter speech therapy.
